< Back to Fresh Thinking

When Flagstone Elementary School in Castlewood Ranch asked Adamo Homes to talk to some students about shapes and where they are used in everyday life, we knew we'd be able to help. Our very own Alicyn Amann, a former teacher, jumped at the opportunity to serve the local school kids. But she also knew that our time with the students had the potential to be more impactful than simply reciting shapes: any event can be an opportunity to learn something new.

She led four classes of eager kindergarteners, identifying shapes and building tiny houses by piecing together recycled washers, wood and felt cut-outs. Alicyn even saw a few future architects diligently working on their homes - carefully handling their glue sticks like true craftsmen. Later she showed the students various material samples from roof tiles to cabinets. Then she and the students discussed how many shapes go into building an Adamo Home.  To the student's surprise, there were too many to count.
Reflecting on a rewarding day, Alicyn noted that "being a part of the community is important to us.  This is not only where we do business; it's where our family's home is and it's where we choose to raise our kids."  Taking time out of our busy schedules to be involved with our local schools is just one way that we at Adamo stay connected to our community, neighbors and local groups.
